Is it the responsibility of today’s Church to defend and care for orphans? Throughout the Bible God demonstrates His specific expectations on behalf of the alien, the orphan, and the widow. Isaiah 1:17 instructs us to “Learn to do good; seek justice, help the oppressed, defend the cause of orphans.” Christ also reminds us: “If anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward." (Matthew 10:42).
Orphan Care Sunday is all about getting your church to set aside one Sunday each year to tangibly focus on how to care for the fatherless and the poor. Pathway to Joy would like you to pray about hosting an Orphan CARE Sunday in your church on May 18, 2014 (or other date that works better for your church) and become a voice for the orphaned and waiting children of Romania who would otherwise have no voice!
These kids are waiting for us to make a real life-long impact in their lives. Together we can pull these children out of poverty and pain and ignite a spark of HOPE for their future!
Our ministry's church-based child sponsorship programs offer:
- Christian foster care
- Nutritious food
- Critical health care
- Education and mentoring
- Spiritual growth and character development opportunities

When we make the decision to give to the poor and the oppressed, the results are matchless -
And if you give yourself to the hungry
And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
Then your light will rise in darkness
And your gloom will become like midday.
And the Lord will continually guide you,
And satisfy your desire in scorched places,
And give strength to your bones;
And you will be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
─ Isaiah 58:10-11
